Smoky Mountains Fall Colors & Hiking

This year, we’re enjoying the fall colors in the Great Smoky Mountains!

The Great Smoky Mountains are a mountain range rising along the Tennessee–North Carolina border. The Appalachian Trails cross them, and they form part of the Blue Ridge Province. This is the home of the Great Smoky Mountains National Park, which was established in 1934, and is home to an estimated 187,000 acres of old-growth forest. It is also home to the densest black bear population in the Eastern United States. The name “Smoky” comes from the natural fog that often hangs over the range and presents as large smoke plumes from a distance.

We’ll be day hiking on the Appalachian Trail, through the Smoky Moutain National Park and on the Bartram Trail. There are endless numbers of lakes and rivers to kayak, the Great Smoky Mountain Rail Road runs daily, Zip lining for those who want, rafting or duckies on local rivers, dining in Bryson City (yum yum) and more. We fly into Asheville & and you are picked up at the airport. Or, you can make this a road trip by carpooling. People have visited Chattanooga, Memphis, Nashville, Biloxi, and other cities along the way.
