If you don’t want to camp but want to spend the day outside, join us! We’ll hike in the morning, have a picnic in the park and then play games in the afternoon.

We’re spending the day in Stephen F Austin State Park, just about 1 hour from Houston.

Hike – 10 am – 1 pm

Picnic – 1 pm

Games – Stay as long as you want. The park closes at 10 pm. If you want to spend the night, sign up for a camping trip (separate Event).

About the Hike:

We’ll hike about 5 miles, give or take. We’ll hike at the pace of the group, but you should be able to hike a 25-30-minute mile. We’re a no-drop group. That means we make sure everyone who starts the hike with us finishes the hike with us, and you won’t get lost on the trail. 😄

What to bring:

1. Sturdy shoes for the hike; comfortable shoes for after the hike
2. Water
3. Sun and bug protection
4. Layers

Fees: $5 – The hike is free, but there is a park entrance fee of $5 per person unless you have a state park pass. The state park pass gets the entire car in for free. To ensure you get a pass and to expedite the check-in process, you can reserve your registration with the link below. You still have to check in at HQ, but it goes much faster.

Where to Meet:

Tentative: For the hike, meet at the Nature Center at the front of the park. Once I arrive, I’ll see if there is a better spot to park so we don’t need to move cars after the hike.
