When the fall comes, leaves 🍂🍁 change their colors and give a stunning look to landscapes. While you can get some fall foliage in here in Houston too, you still need to drive 🚙 a bit if you’d like to see some of the best sceneries with gorgeous fall colors in Texas, but it will be worth it!


Some destinations where you can experience the wonderful fall foliage:


Lost Maples State Natural Area

Where the bigtooth maples turn spectacular colors of red, orange, and yellow. With majestic canyons and the scenic Sabinal River reflecting the fall foliage, it's the perfect spot to get the season. It is two hours northwest of San Antonio.



Enchanted Rock State Natural Area

It is also in the Texas Hill Country, near Austin and San Antonio - Climb the ancient dome for amazing Hill Country views.



Garner State Park

The scenic overlook along the Frio River is a popular spot to view stunning fall foliage in Garner State Park. In the fall the scenery is spectacular in this popular Uvalde County SP, eight miles north of Concan, on the Frio River.



Tyler State Park

For the best views of fall foliage take a hike, canoe, or kayak on the 64-acre lake. Treks on the Lakeshore Trail or the Whispering Pines Trail are two options to view the best fall foliage that Tyler State Park offers. Tyler State Park is located two miles north of Interstate 20 on FM 14 north of Tyler on Park Road 16.



McKinney Falls State Park

Think of the park as Austin’s backyard; it's just 13 miles from the state capitol. Here you can camp, hike, mountain or road bike, geocache, go bouldering, and picnic. You can also fish and swim in Onion Creek. Enjoy the scenic trails wind through captivating forests marked with splashes of reds, oranges, and yellows.


You can see these beautiful colors in Texas from mid-October even to the start of December.
