Grab your lawn chairs and head to the Plaza for some live music from TKOh!, as they hit all the funk & soul notes from the early 70’s. This band has received dozens of awards & nominations, including “Best Horns” (Houston Press 1998) & “Best Funk R&B” (Houston Press 2000). While you’re there, stop by to learn more about the Chris “CJ” Johnson Foundation, an organization with the mission to create awareness by alleviating healthcare disparities for individuals diagnosed with Renal Medullary Carcinoma (RMC) through advocacy, education, and research. The foundation was started and named after Chris “CJ” Johnson, a Sugar Land resident, after losing his battle with RMC in 2012.
