Looking for whitewater kayaking near Houston? While there aren’t any true rapids in the Bayou City, we’re heading just a few hours west to the best spot in Texas to learn and play in whitewater—the crystal-clear, spring-fed San Marcos River!
Join us for a weekend (or just a day) of whitewater kayak instruction and fun!
The San Marcos River stays around 72 degrees year-round and offers the perfect natural classroom for beginners and intermediate paddlers. You’ll learn and practice essential skills like:
- Ferrying
- Eddying out
- Paddle strokes
- River reading
- Rolling
- And much more!
No pressure, all fun! Instructors will be by your side to help you progress at your own pace. Whether you’re dipping your paddle in for the first time or looking to take your skills up a notch, this weekend is designed to meet you where you are.
📍 Location
San Marcos, TX – Just under 3 hours from Houston. You can drive in for a day… but why not stay for the full weekend of adventure, good company, and fun?
✅ Your Registration Includes:
- Friday Night Light Kayaking (first 10 spots only) + kayak rental
- Saturday full-day professional instruction + kayak rental
- Sunday half-day paddle + kayak rental
- All safety gear: helmet, paddle, PFD, skirt, dry bag
- Easy BBQ lunch on Sunday at Ben’s house
Bring:
- Water, snacks, sunscreen, swimsuit or board shorts, sun shirt or rash guard
- Towel & dry clothes
- Water shoes/sandals
- $3 cash for the park launch fee
- Optional: dry bag for gear
